Series: Bitterthorn, Texas #1
Author: Stacy Gail
Publisher: Carina Press
 Release Date: November 17, 2014

Synopsis

Miranda Brookhaven returned to Bitterthorn, Texas to fix the past. Years ago, her father used her teenage romance with Coe Rodas to steal the prototype for a groundbreaking new automotive invention. Now her father's dead, and thanks to the convoluted will he left behind, she's stuck in town until she rights the wrong that lost her the man she loved.

Coe learned early on that life never goes according to plan. His dreams of hitting it big vanished when Miranda all but invited her father to take the only thing of value he ever had. But now the once-pampered princess is holed up in a condemned trailer on the edge of town...and everything he thought he knew about her—and about what happened between them back then—seems completely wrong.

Miranda's determined to give back to Coe all that he lost. If she can do that, maybe she can move on from the past. But Coe seems to be more interested in their rekindled passion than claiming what she thinks he deserves. She's got sixty days to convince him to cough up evidence that he's the original inventor—after that, the only way to transfer the patent rights over to him would be to make him part of the family, and she's not sure her heart can take another hit.

“Shit like dirt and grime don’t belong on you. Silk, diamonds…me. That’s what belongs on you.” His big feet were on either side of hers, and she drank in the heat pouring off his chest at her back as he went about sliding his soapy fingers through hers. It felt good, that slick slide of flesh against flesh. Too good. The heat sinking into every pore of her skin brought her back to when they’d been in this situation once before, and it made her bite her lip. She remembered the trembling, the excitement, and the crippling uncertainty of what she should do next.
Time really made all the difference in the world. Seven years later, she now knew exactly what to do.
Her soapy hands slipped over his, squeezing, caressing. Cleaning his skin as he cleaned hers, yes, but it was obvious her interests weren’t just in getting clean. But maybe that was because while she did that, she also nudged her ass back against him, hitching up just a bit so she could hit the money spot…
He sucked in a sharp breath.
Jackpot.
“Miranda.” His voice was low and rumbling. It purred down the length of her spine to pool deep in her belly, where the sweet tension of need began to curl in on itself. That masculine rumble shortened her breath and tensed her thigh muscles, because she knew what it meant. He wanted her, and soon he’d go for what he wanted just as hard and hot as she wanted him to. “Careful, babe.”
“I had you shut the doors. That’s careful enough.” She looked over her shoulder at him, just as she had when she was eighteen and almost dying from attraction. It was no less intense now, and she could only marvel at the hold he had on her. “I hope you have protection on you, because I won’t be satisfied with just a kiss this time around.”
“But you will be satisfied.” With the glitter of arousal building into a wildfire blaze in his eyes, he turned off the water. Then he braced her hands on the far lip on the sink before reaching for the front of her pants. “This garage guarantees satisfaction for all the work I do here.”
“Good policy.” The last of her retort fizzled on a hiss as his fingers dived past the barrier of her panties and into her cleft. Her head dropped forward while she pushed against his hand, and the sinuous roll of her hips rubbed the hardness behind her. Her pleasure fed his, and soon their disturbed breathing was echoing through the garage.
Damn, but the man knew what he was doing.
“I love how wet you get for me.” His voice was deliciously rough, exciting her all the more. Then the sound of a zipper and crinkling of packaging being ripped open reached her ears, and she almost hyperventilated. “I’m going to make you come so hard your legs won’t be able to hold you for the rest of the day.”
Oh, dear God…

Three sexy novellas about risking it all for a chance at love and passion . . .

JUST ONE NIGHT
Jason Hart has just one night to prove to his best friend's older sister that anything is possible . . .
Nicole de Salvo has been in love – and lust – for her little brother’s best friend for years. For years she’s watched from afar and done nothing about her attraction for Jason Hart only now their time together is almost at an end. On their last night together will she find the courage to do something about her feelings, or will she live with regret for the rest of her life?

ONE SPECIAL NIGHT
It's been nearly six months since Tommy de Salvo’s fiancée cheated and left him in the midst of wedding preparations because up-and-coming businessman Tommy was all work and no play. The last thing Tommy wants or needs is to be attracted to another woman who won’t be around for too long. A woman just like Navy Corpsman Jasmine Reyes. She’s rough, tough, and determined to go it alone, but Tommy knows that if he passes up this opportunity, he may regret it more than the loss of his fiancée . . .
Jasmine “Doc” Reyes is both emotionally and physically scarred after her tour of duty. Wounded in battle, all she can think about is rebuilding her life and continuing with the career that she’s dreamed about since she was a young child. She has no time for rich sexy men who’ve never had a care in the world and wouldn’t understand her determination. But Tommy’s charm is seductive and she knows that she has to explore the attraction, even if it’s only for this one special night.

ONE LAST NIGHT
It's been over a year since Marine Lieutenant Trevor Mason and his father have spoken. After nearly losing his life during a Taliban attack in Afghanistan, Trevor wants to end the rift between them so he can return to active duty with some peace of mind. But a visit to his father’s office only serves to show Trevor that his father isn’t as eager to reunite. If not for the intervention of Samuel Mason’s spunky and very sexy intern, Trevor would probably be returning to Afghanistan with his one wish unfulfilled.
Trevor Mason had used to do all kinds of things to Maggie Sullivan’s insides when she worked at the country club his family used to attend. Five years later, there is little left of the teen she knew in the stoic Marine who only wants some time with his father. When Trevor’s father backs out of his son’s dinner invitation at the last minute, Maggie does the only thing she can: she goes to Trevor’s apartment to deliver the news, but she can’t leave him alone on his one last night before returning to duty.
Thrown together, Trevor and Maggie can’t ignore the sexual heat between them. As they satisfy one set of needs, another slowly develops as passion breathes life into other emotions. Will Trevor and Maggie’s one last night together possibly lead to many other nights in the future?

EXCERPT

"What's up, Jase?  Why did you almost drag me out of the party?" she asked and leaned against one of the thick pilings for the boardwalk.

He braced his forearm just above her head on the support and shifted until her warm breath spilled against his face.  She smelled of something flowery and of Nicole and he inhaled deeply to memorize that aroma.

With his free hand, he brushed away a windblown lock of her hair and then skimmed his fingers down her smooth cheek.  She trembled beneath his touch and he hardened as he imagined how smooth the rest of her skin would be and how she would shiver against him while they made love.

"I want you, Nickie."

Her eyes widened in surprise and the words rushed from her.  "Hell no.  I don't believe you."

"Believe it, Nickie.  I've wanted you for a long time," he said and moved ever closer until his body was pressed to hers.

At that touch, she sucked in a shaky breath and closed her eyes.  In a husky voice she said, "Don't play with me, Jase."

He chuckled and her eyes snapped open to meet his gaze.  "Babe, I am so not playing with you.  At least not yet," he said and dropped his hand to trace the rounded swells of her breasts visible above the bodice of her killer dress.  It was the kind of dress that invited him to touch and to see.

Excerpt
“I have to issue a punishment this evening.” Mouth dangling, ready to protest, Maxine could only stammer, “Y-you said you wouldn't...you'd work up to the...pain...” “Did I say anything about pain this evening?” he asked. “I wouldn't even dare to think of implementing any of the standard consequences yet. It's not going to hurt you—physically—in the slightest, little one. But I do guarantee, it's going to be uncomfortable before you have your pleasure tonight.” Maxine had no clue as to what Drew had in store, and although she yearned to find out, she quietly commanded herself to remain unruffled. “Now Maxine, before we delve deeper, we do have some major insubordinations to address.” Thoughtfully, he tapped his index finger against his chin. “Want to guess one of them?” Just for sport—and to shatter her already weakening faculties—he traced the underside of her breast. Shoulders slumping, she sighed. “Oh, for crissakes, Maxine, have I not already warned you?” He took a step back to shake his head in dismay. “Posture. Mind it. At all times.” “But you…when you touch my boob…it…” “Oh, little darling one, I know damn well what happens when I touch your boob,” he said and clasped his hands behind his back. With that, he leaned back just a bit, enhancing the outline of his erection against his rather tight khakis. Fucking tease, Maxine thought to herself as she popped her shoulders back again to embody a more rigid stance. However, it was her own damn boobs that were getting her into trouble. Again! If only he hadn't pinched her nipple over their (what became disrupted) dinner, she might have mustered some stamina. However, his constant taunting only left her fighting with herself to restrain that ache—that fullness—weighting her tiny silken bra. “Getting back to the focal point of our conversation here, it’s apparent that you need some shaming here…” “Shaming?” With the full bravura of a pet parent who just caught Puppy doing something so very naughty, he questioned, “What did you do?” “What did I do?” she muttered to herself, scrambling to think back upon their week. She’d tried so hard to remember her indiscretions, but her mind suddenly drew a big, hulking blank! Fuckballs. “You were very bad this week, Maxine,” he said as if she needed a reminder. “Last Saturday morning, I recall that you were so very impatient with me…” “Oh, yeah!” she called out suddenly with a pompous grin. “I...went after…your cock …” Lifting his cool blue eyes toward the ceiling, he pursed his lips in frustration. Little did she seem to understand that his petulance stemmed from her potty mouth and not directly from her misbehaving ways. She was so damn cute when she tried to be brash, but Maxine didn’t realize how she turned him on with her words. How he fucking needed her. “I'm waiting,” he said with a cough. “And I can wait all night...” Swallowing the lump in her throat, she added, “Sir.” “Trying to remind myself that you're a mere novice…” he said, mocking frustration with himself. How he loved to watch his sweet and precious Maxine caving into her desires of the unknown. He rubbed the slight stubble on his chin and minded her thoughtfully. Just to establish her agreement to submit, he had to push her a little—if not goad her—in order to seek their culmination of reward. “Any idea what else you’ve done this week, Maxine?” Uh-oh. Now she was at a true loss for words and thought. “No, Kind Sir…” She hoped her sweet plea would ease his consternation. “Remember when you did this?” Drew stretched his tongue to a point and traced the entire circle of his mouth. “Recall that?” “Mmm-hmm, Sir…” “That’s temptation like none other, Maxine—and I shall not be seduced in that manner.” “But I was…I wanted to…it was flattering…” she attempted—in desperation—to explain. “Wanted to…” “Just say it!” he ordered. “Say it!” “I wanted to suck your cock, Sir…” “Yes, you did,” he nodded with approval. “And did I deem you worthy to do so just yet?” Sulking again, she shook her head. True to his word, he was indeed making her feel quite uncomfortable. “No, Sir…” “Have you even done that before?” “Are you kidd—” However, Maxine stopped herself and retreated quickly to her submission. “No, Sir, I have not.” At that moment, it was Drew’s mind that reeled. He’d be her first blow job—her first. Oh, just to feel those sweet little lips surrounding him… Snap the fuck out of it, Mack, he commanded himself. “And what else?” As Maxine scrambled to replay every single moment of their week together, her mouth dropped. She came up empty, and she pondered the consequences of her honest response when she admitted, “I, um...I honestly don't know, Sir.” “You were a minute late in your research homework,” he admonished. “That's three strikes. You're out, Maxine.” “But I…” “Want to try for four? You touched yourself in your sleep. How about five? Don’t think that Lou didn’t tell me all about how you tried to coax my plans out of him the other night…” he rambled on. “I'm sure we can go for six here if I give you another minute...” Her lips unfurled into a frown, and she pondered what her punishment might entail. While trepidation still held her in its grip, Maxine grew increasingly curious as to what Drew had in store. “Come closer, Maxine,” he said, wrapping his arm around her waist and turning her toward the window in one fluid swoop. He pointed to the delicatessen across the street. “You see the little grocery on the corner?” “Mmmhmm,” she answered, only to feel the pinch of Drew’s fingers on her backside before she corrected herself. “Yes, Sir.” “You said they deliver?” he casually asked. “Yes, Sir, they do.” “So,” he sighed, “you know them personally?” “I know the delivery guy,” she said, digging her heels into the plush carpet. “Sir...” “Even better yet...” Framing her face with those skillful hands, he held her completely still to look deep into the fear rising in her big green eyes. “If you want to continue with our relationship, Maxine, you must first learn to obey.” “I know, Sir,” she said, swaying her hips as he held her. “And I'll try my best...” “Good girl,” he praised. “Now I'm just going to make an assumption that you're not on birth control. Am I right?” She shook her head quickly. “No, Sir...I'm not...” “Well, we have to take care of that if we're going to make love tonight, don't we, little one?” “Yes...yes, Sir...” “What I need you to do right now is very important,” Drew said, circling his hand over her lower back, round and round—dizzying her with arousal. “You’re going to call that number on the awning, and you’re going to ask them to deliver a package of condoms. And then you’re going to answer the door.” Mortified, Maxine took a step back within the circle of his arm, only to realize that she was trapped between him and the radiator. “Drew! I...” “Here’s my phone. You have sixty seconds to finish your call.”
Only in New York, Maxine thought. Only in New Fucking York.
JulietAuthor Bio
Juliet Braddock’s first efforts in creative writing came long before she learned to put crayon to paper. In fact, she began spinning stories in her head nearly as soon as she could form complete sentences. As long as she can remember, she’d always created sagas about imaginary friends, family members and pop culture icons, and kept everyone around her entertained with her witty—but often very tall—tales. For her sixth Christmas, Juliet’s mother got her a child’s typewriter to preserve all of those creative thoughts filling her head, but she quickly switched to ball point pens and notebooks when the ribbon ran dry. Most of Juliet’s early attempts at writing romance focused on members of Duran Duran and Spandau Ballet or young leading men on Broadway. However, as she matured as a writer, she decided that it was just as much fun to create her own romantic heroes and heroines. At an early age, she also developed a love for big cities, and the tallest of skyscrapers were never high enough for her. Juliet’s wanderlust would eventually lure her to New York, a city she often visited during her formative years, and her love affair with Manhattan began. She’d promised herself that one day she would return for good. Juliet’s passion for writing and for big cities converged, and after graduating with a degree in Journalism, she decided to set out on a journey to find her heart…just where she’d left it. A week after her college graduation, Juliet made the big move from a small town to New York City, where she has made her home ever since. In between building a career in communications and writing on the side, she’s indulged in international travel, theater and art. A wine and food buff, she’s by no means a connoisseur, but she can give a few good restaurant recommendations if you’re in the city. “There’s something so inspiring about living in a city like New York that’s so rich in culture and so very vibrant. Every neighborhood has its own story to tell,” Juliet says. “I often do my best plotting on the subway, just observing the lives unfolding around me. New York truly has a billion stories nestled between the skyscrapers.” A proud Manhattanite, Juliet couldn’t live anywhere else—except for Paris, perhaps—and is a gushing cat-mom to a Russian Blue mix who was rescued as a kitten from the streets of Brooklyn.

Excerpt

With pain, comes blame. We blame the ones we love, we blame the one we lost, but most of all, we blame ourselves. It buries itself deep. So deep that on some days it feels like it’s in the marrow of your bones.

It destroys everything. The love you thought you had? Blame will chew it up and spit it out faster than you can blink.

Blame is like cancer; it eats away at all the good. It consumes you and if you are not careful, it will kill you.
