“Who the fuck do you think you are,” I yell as the large man throws me onto the bed.
“Your worst fucking nightmare, sweetie pie.”
“Just let me go, please.”
“Not happening,” he says as he sits on the bed and begins to untie his boots.
“I didn’t see anything. I don’t know names or places. Let me go. I have a very important meeting in the morning,” I beg.
“Not happening,” he replies again.
“Let. Me. Fucking. Go,” I roar, as I sling the Bible from the nightstand and nail him in the back of the head.
“Listen here, bitch, you’re now property of the Iron Sinners motorcycle club. You ain’t fucking going nowhere without one of us. Got it? You witnessed a fucking crime that could put a fellow brother away for life. You’ve been spotted with us by a rival club. You are now marked as a motherfucking Sinner. You leave our side and the Idols will put a really shiny bullet straight through your skull. You’re a walking, talking dead bitch just waiting to get popped. So shut the fuck up.”
Did I just really hear him he say property of the sinners? Bullet in my head?
“So, you’re telling me I have a ticking death threat that could expire at any given moment?”
The man stands, faces me, baring all of his ink and replies, “And I forgot to add shut the fuck up.”
“Are you fucking kidding me?”
He comes closer in an intimidating stance and bends down so we are face to face. “Does any of this read as if I were kidding you, bitch?”
His minty breath reverberates off my skin and envelops all of my senses. He was the bad guy and I, the victim, but god damn he’s gorgeous.
“Let me fucking go. I don’t care about any of that shit.”
I lunge forward off the bed, catapulting myself into his chest and begin my fight to escape. My surprise assault knocks him off balance and he falls back on the bed. I run for the door. Fuck! My bag. I take three steps back, grab my bag, and run.
Halfway out of the parking lot, I'm brought down by my hair.
“You dumb cunt. What part of my speech didn’t you get?” the man growls in my face.
He rips me up by the hair and drags me back to the room.
“I’m done playing nice. You want to run and piss me the fuck off, then you’re going to be treated like a fucking piece of trash.”

SYNOPSIS

Successful restaurateur Lucien Black’s blue-green eyes and unattainable attitude drive women wild. But his abandonment issues and criminal past have left him emotionally closed off. Darcy felt his jagged edges fit perfectly into her own, and she’d planned to spend the rest of her life with him—until a mysterious man warned her away. Now, fourteen years later, she’s ready to endure the torture of Lucien’s indifference and having him as her boss…just to be near him. L.A. Fiore’s story of smoldering love recaptures the tormented romance of Beautifully Damaged.

Lucien watched as Darcy struggled to get the printer working. Even from his distance he could hear the cursing, which made him smile. It had been a week since their relationship had taken a very pleasant turn. She was still just as feisty as he remembered and it wasn’t hard for him to recall why he had fallen for her in the first place. Their sparring was verbal foreplay and he fucking craved it. His eyes moved over her. Her body was nothing like the one he had known, with curves that his hands itched to touch. Her hair was up, though he preferred it down, and tendrils were falling out of the twist. He remembered vividly the sight of it spread out over his pillow.

He had to admit that she was still just as interesting to him as she had been at fourteen. Despite everything, she was still his Darcy—sweet, witty, and guileless, except at the moment. She looked about ready to torch the printer, so he moved to help her. As he approached, she was actually staring into the paper tray, yelling at the creatures that lived inside it.

He chuckled, which must have taken her by surprise, because she leaped backward and landed on his foot.

“Fuck!” he cursed.

“Sorry.”

He looked down at her strappy sandals with heels high enough to stake a vampire and had a vision of those legs draped over his shoulders. Instantly, he was hard.

“I was going to offer to help you. The printer can be temperamental, but now I’m bleeding out from a stab wound.”

She didn’t miss a beat. “It probably didn’t even break the skin. What is it you guys say? Rub some dirt into it.”

He eyed her shoes. “Those things should be listed as lethal weapons.”

“Hardly. There are far cheaper ways to kill someone.” She bent to stare into the printer again and Lucien took the opportunity to check out the curve of her ass in the little black skirt she wore.

“Stop checking out my ass and help me.”

Not at all repentant for getting caught staring, he replied easily, “It’s a paper jam.”

He thought he was being helpful and when she straightened slowly, he entertained the notion that she was struggling with the need to throw herself into his arms in gratitude.

One look at her face, though, and he knew he wasn’t going to be copping a feel.

“Your powers of deduction are astounding. Seriously, you should give a seminar on mastering the obvious.”

He tried not to laugh, but he lost that battle. And she responded by flaying a layer of skin off him with her sharp tongue.

“I know it’s a paper jam, Sherlock, I just can’t find it.”

“It’s usually in the back,” Lucien said as he reached for the back of the printer, his arm brushing up against her on purpose. Darcy’s inhaled breath in response had his balls tightening. He dislodged the paper and pulled it free.

He turned to her with a smug smile, which she returned with uncanny accuracy before she said, “Thanks. I almost lost my cool.”

“Almost?”

A slight smile touched her lips. “I should go restart my print job.”

“Probably, unless you can get the little men in the printer to do it.”

Brownies.”

“What?”

She laughed. “Not the baked goods, the little mischievous mystical creatures.”

“They live in my printer?”

“Maybe.” She started away, but stopped and turned to him.“Thanks.”

“Have dinner with me tonight.”

She eyed him through her lashes before she said, “You’re on.”

And then she turned and disappeared into her office.

**ALL FOR THIS is book three in the Here and Now series. It is not a stand-alone and it’s intended to be read after LOST IN ME and FALL TO YOU.**

What if you would never remember the day you made the most important decision of your life?

That’s what they’re telling me about the day of my accident—the day I put on Max’s ring and chose him over Nate. I’m counting on the wisdom behind a decision I don’t remember making.

Max is amazing—sexy, sweet, and kind. I was starting to believe happily-ever-after might be in my future after all. Then the unthinkable happened and my world imploded. If I’m going to make this work with Max, I need my missing memories, or at least answers from about those five days before my accident.

But what does my future hold if those answers aren’t anything like I imagined?

The following excerpt from ALL FOR THIS by its very nature contains spoilers for the first two books in the Here and Now series, LOST IN ME and FALL TO YOU. If you hate spoilers and haven’t read the first two books, I recommend you don’t read any further.

EXCERPT:

Max

“How are you holding up? Did it go okay with Nate last night?”
She stiffens at his name. “He asked me to move to LA.”
Of course he did. “And what did you say?”
She blinks at me. “I’m not leaving New Hope. This is my home.”
“He wanted more than for you to move to LA.” I take a step closer. I need to touch her. I wonder if she knows she’s pulling away from me, if she can feel it like I can. It’s as if we’re connected by a thousand little threads like those in a woven rug and they’ve been breaking one at a time since the moment Nate came back into town. With every breath, I feel another thread snap. “He wanted you.”
She shrugs. “I’m already taken.”
I draw in a deep breath. She lifts her hand to my face and skims her fingers along my jaw.
I groan softly and slide my hand into her hair as I lower my mouth to hers. She’s soft and sweet, and I need more of her.
Taking a fistful of her skirt, I yank her dress up around her waist and find the cotton of her panties. She gasps, and I rub her through the fabric as her fingers curl into my back. My lips find her neck and the skin in the sensitive juncture of neck and shoulder.
“Max,” she says. But it’s not the normal breathy, needy whispering of my name. The word is a warning. A yield sign. “Max.”
My hand stills and I pull back to look into her eyes. I’m blindsided by the apology I see there. “Let’s move in together.”
“What?” She blinks at me. If she’s thinking I have the world’s worst timing with important proposals, she’s not wrong.
“We could rent out our apartments and use the money to rent a little place together. Someplace without those stairs that scare the living shit out of me every time I think of you climbing them. Someplace we can make our own.” I take her hand and squeeze. “You didn’t want to move in together last spring because you knew your mom would flip if you lived with a guy before marriage, but we’re not trying to maintain appearances anymore, are we?” She looks at the floor, and I tilt her chin back up so her eyes meet mine. “I could give two shits about appearances. I want to wake up with you in my arms, Hanna. I want to know I’m going to be right there when you need me, every time you need me. You and Claire are all that matter in my world. I want everything that matters to be what I come home to every night.”
“I’m sorry.” She steps back. “I just can’t. I’m too confused right now.”
My lungs burn as I fill them—it hurts to breathe in a world where Hanna isn’t mine.
“I know it’s not fair. And I want a future with you, but…”
“But you can’t stop thinking about him.”
“I can’t move in with you right now,” she says softly. “That wouldn’t be fair to either of us. It’s not that simple.”
“You keep saying that.”
I swallow back the rest of what I want to say right along with my anger, frustration, and the betrayal I’ve never allowed myself to feel. While I was waiting for her to take my ring, she was with another man, and I was never allowed to be angry because that man died and she needed to grieve.
I drag a hand through my hair and look at the ceiling. “Was it that simple when you made love to him?”
“Can we not do this?”
Torment is etched across her face, and I can’t stand to know I’m the one who put it there. I pull her against my chest.
“I won’t rush you, but remember something for me,” I whisper into her hair. “You put on my ring.”

About the Author.

Once a college English professor, I now write full time. I live in rural Indiana, where, when I’m not writing, I get to hang out with my husband and two kids–a six-year-old boy and a two-year-old hellion, er, girl. Not surprisingly, reading and writing remain my favorite activities, though both come in bits and pieces these days, not the big hunks of time I enjoyed before I had children. When I’m feeling virtuous, I like to go running (I use that word liberally. I’m really, really slow) or do yoga. Don’t worry, I’m always careful to balance out such activities with a hearty serving of ice cream or a chocolate martini.

RELEASE DAY BLITZ. BEFORE YOU BY AMBER HART. @AmberHartBooks

beforeyou-releaseday

We're so excited to celebrate the release of BEFORE YOU by Amber Hart from Kensington Teen! This multicultural romance has us swooning!

Before You revisedABOUT BEFORE YOU

Some say love is deadly. Some say love is beautiful. I say it is both.

Faith Watters spent her junior year traveling the world, studying in exquisite places, before returning to Oviedo High School. From the outside her life is picture-perfect. Captain of the dance team. Popular. Happy. Too bad it’s all a lie.

It will haunt me. It will claim me. It will shatter me. And I don't care.

Eighteen-year-old Diego Alvarez hates his new life in the States, but staying in Cuba is not an option. Covered in tattoos and scars, Diego doesn't stand a chance of fitting in. Nor does he want to. His only concern is staying hidden from his past—a past, which if it were to surface, would cost him everything. Including his life.

At Oviedo High School, it seems that Faith Watters and Diego Alvarez do not belong together. But fate is as tricky as it is lovely. Freedom with no restraint is what they long for. What they get is something different entirely.

Love—it will ruin you and save you, both.

EXCERPT:

“Hi, I’m Faith Watters.” Those are the first words I speak to the new Cuban guy in the front office. He grimaces. He’ll be a tough one. I can handle it, though. He’s not the first. I can’t help but notice that he looks a lot like a model from the neck up—eyes the color of oak, strong bone structure. Everywhere else, he looks a lot like a criminal. Chiseled, scarred body … I wonder for a second about the meaning behind the tattoos scratched into his arms. One thing’s clear. He’s dangerous. And he’s beautiful. “I’ll show you to your classes,” I announce. I’m one of the peer helpers at our school. It’s not my favorite thing to do, but it counts as a class. Basically I spend the first two days with new students, introducing them around and answering their questions. Some parents with kids new to the school voluntarily sign their students up, but it’s only mandatory for the international students, of which we have a lot. Mostly Latinos. This Cuban guy towers over me. I’m five six. Not tall. Not short. Just average. Average is good. This guy’s not average. Not even a little bit. He must be over six feet. I glance up at him, kind of like I do when I’m searching for the moon in a sea of darkness. “Looks like you have math first. I’ll walk you there,” I offer. “No thanks, chica. I can handle it.” “It’s no problem,” I say, leading the way. He tries to snatch his schedule from my hands, but I move too fast. “Why don’t we start with your name?” I suggest. I already know his name. Plus some. Diego Alvarez. Eighteen years old. Moved from Cuba two weeks ago. Only child. No previous school records. I read it in his bio. I want to hear him say it. “You got some kinda control issues or somethin’?” he asks harshly, voice slightly accented. “You got some kind of social issues or somethin’?” I fire back, holding my stance. I won’t let him intimidate me, though I’ll admit, he’s hot. Too bad he has a nasty attitude. The side of his lip twitches. “No. I just don’t mix with your type,” he answers. “My type?” “That’s what I said.” “You don’t even know my type.” No one does. Well, except Melissa. He chuckles humorlessly. “Sure I do. Head cheerleader? Date the football player? Daddy’s little girl who gets everything she wants?” He leans closer to whisper. “Probably a virgin.” My cheeks burn hot. “I’m not a cheerleader,” I say through clamped teeth. “Whatever,” he says. “Are you gonna give me my schedule or not?” “Not,” I answer. “But you can feel free to follow me to your first class.” He steps in front of me, intimately close. “Listen, chica, nobody tells me what to do.” I shrug. “Fine, suit yourself. It’s your life. But if you want to attend this school, it’s mandatory for me to show you to your classes for two days.” His eyes narrow. “Who says I want to attend this school?” I take the last step toward him, closing the gap between us. When we were little, Melissa and I used to collect glass bottles. Whenever we accumulated twenty, we’d break them on the concrete. When the glass shattered, the slivered pieces made a breathtaking prism of light. I cut myself on the glass by accident once. It was painful, but worth it. The beauty was worth it. It’s funny how the bottle was never as beautiful as when it was broken.

REVIEW

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I received a copy of this arc in exchange for an honest review

Nash Nash Nash OMFG love him to bits, he seriously has some demons and the only way he copes is with sex and drink. Thank god he has his family there and that also he has Velvet who too has her own demons.

These two are a match made in heaven and are like two soul mates that are destined to be with each other.

Nina this was a fantastic book to read and I loved every second of it, all the books in this series are fantastic and if you haven't read them yet then you seriously need to. They have the most sexiest men in them on the planet.

DELETED SCENES

DELETED SCENE #1

Velvet

I eyed the guy standing in front of me.  He was a pig.  I’d seen him in here before, and he always treated the strippers and the waitresses like a piece of meat put on Earth for his personal pleasure.  “You need to step away,” I told him in a firm tone; one I hoped he paid attention to before  Nash saw him giving me a hard time.  God only knew how Nash would handle him.
He leered at me, and I didn’t even want to think about what the look in his eyes meant.  “Baby, I’m not stepping away.  You’re gonna show me a good time tonight.  I’m gonna pay a shitload to have your tits in my hands.”
Like fuck he was.  “I’m not your fucking baby, and there’s no way you’ll ever have my tits in your hands.”
I took a step back as I said it and ran into hard muscle.  Familiar hands curled around my waist, and pulled me back into him.
Nash.
I braced for the confrontation I knew was coming.
Nash’s voice had a murderous tone to it when he threatened the guy.  “You’ll leave and you won’t ever fuckin’ come back here.  And if I ever fuckin’ hear you talking about my woman’s tits, you’ll find it hard to ever breathe through your nose again, motherfucker.  We clear?”
It felt like the wrong reaction, but my stomach fluttered at his words.  I couldn’t help it though; I loved it when Nash called me his woman.
The guy glared at Nash for a couple of moments before admitting defeat by turning and leaving.  I watched him go, and breathed a sigh of relief.  That could have gone wrong really fast if the guy hadn’t listened to Nash.
Nash bent his head to my ear, and muttered, “Your last shift here can’t come soon enough, baby.  I can’t take much more of these assholes fucking with you.”
I turned in his hold, and faced him.  “A couple of days; that’s all you’ve got to last.  Maybe you shouldn’t come in.”
He scowled.  “Not fuckin’ likely, babe.  I’m not having my woman spoken to by motherfuckers like him.”
I grinned at him.  “You keep calling me your woman, and you’re going to get so lucky tonight.”
He looked pained.  “Two things, babe.  One, don’t fuckin’ say shit like that to me when there’s still three fuckin’ hours before you can make good on that promise.”  His eyes softened before he said the next thing, “And two, I’m already lucky.”
Nash had a special knack for turning me on and melting my heart all at the same time.  “What the hell did I do to deserve you?” I asked, softly.
It was his turn to grin now.  “I guess we’re both fuckin’ lucky, babe.”

DELETED SCENE #2

Velvet

I followed Madison into Harlow’s cafe, and stopped to breathe in the delicious cake smell.  Never had I ever come across a cafe like this one.  Harlow and her mother were an amazing team and not only were great to their customers, but they made the best cake and coffee in Brisbane as far as I was concerned.
Harlow was at the counter, and her face lit up when she saw us.  “You made it!” she exclaimed, coming out to greet us.
“Just,” Madison said.  “J was being a dick this morning, so I got Velvet to pick me up and bring me.”
Harlow frowned.  “Why couldn’t you drive your own car?”
“See that’s what J was being a dick about!  The battery was flat so I asked him to drop me off, but he said he didn’t have time.  Long story short, we had a fight and I told him to go fuck himself at which point he got on his bike and left.  Seriously, how bloody hard would it have been to drop me off here on his way?”  She was getting worked up about it again after I’d managed to calm her down on the way here.
“Babe, it’s not really on the way,” I said, risking her wrath, but it was the truth.
“Don’t you stand up for him,” she bossed me.  “This is girl’s club, you’re on team Madison here.”
Harlow and I laughed.  Holding up my hands defensively, I agreed, “Point taken.  Team Madison it is.”
She grinned, and calmed down a little.  “Lucky.”
Harlow’s eyes flashed mischief, and she zeroed in on me.  “Now we’ve established that J is a dick today, I want to know about your man.  Are we on Team Nash today or Team Velvet?”
Memories of this morning hit me, and electricity shot through me.  Smiling at them, I gushed, “Oh, we are so far on Team Nash today, girls.  In fact, I think it should be declared Nash Day.”
Madison’s eyes widened.  “Fuck me, we need coffee for this, Harlow.”  She ushered me towards a table.  “You need to sit down and spill.  What the hell did Nash do to make you all gushy?”
“The question is what didn’t he do?” I teased.
Madison groaned.  “Well shit I’m jealous, but at least one of us is getting some.  I desperately need J Day, but he’s so damn busy with the club at the moment, I’m lucky to get him once a day at the moment.”
Harlow and I laughed at her problem, and then she went to make coffee for us.  Madison kept talking, and while I listened to her, I also thought about how lucky I was to have these two women in my life.  It had been so long since I’d had close female friends, and I realised now just how much I’d missed out on all these years.  No woman should ever be without best friends who had your back and loved you regardless of your faults and quirks.
