Book 4 in the Severed MC series by Ava Manello and K T Fisher sees the troubled but ever loyal biker Ash aka Cowboy take to the fore.
He's carrying the inner turmoil of feeling to blame for more than his fair share of pain and loss from previous MC troubles, personal agendas and family tragedies. He's a man who places high values on friendship, protection and loyalty. So his inability to protect and save his loved ones in times of need plays heavily on his mind.
Cowboy has distanced himself from his Severed family recently but Emma and her close friend Lucy cut through that cold exterior.
Lucy is fiercely independent, fun and well liked by all the bikers and old ladies. She gets a new bar job at the newly refurbished Severed local bar which is now owned by Declan Donnelly, a man who Severed are keen to know more about in light of recent violence and events facing the club from an unknown threat. This threat escalates to new heights and it's something that "whatever course of action we choose to follow now will result in deaths. It's inevitable..."
Can Cowboy give himself a chance to care for someone again or will it all end in pain and loss again as club life in Severed has never been more chaotic for this set of bikers.

Cowboy is broken, his soul is weary and his burden is already too heavy to bare any more tradegy or loss. He can no longer see his self worth and with Emma serving her justice in the previous novel he feels he had outlived his usefulness.
Lucy is the pivotal person that has the power to break through his despair and open his eyes to how valued he is by his brothers. Cowboy has been appointed her look out by Emma before she left, but he soon realises that his feeling run deeper than just a platonic guardian figure. She fits. She makes him dream of something more.
They battle through the common issues faced by being friends to lovers, he has some real cave man tendencies! Lucy is a sass filled, independent lady that has her own inner strength. She is the perfect partner for Ash as she calms the storm in his heart.
But no love story is ever easy in Severed. The MC has a worrying development - some one has moved in to the area and has started selling drugs, causing people to OD. Declan Donnelly has also recently arrived, looking to bury his past in Severed. He is the new bar owner and lucky Lucy manages to find herself a job there. He is more than meets the eye and he soon embeds himself with our favourite bikers. I hope we see more of him soon.
Carnal and Severed work together as an unknown element plots against them and Death has not yet left them alone. Things get heated and very very bloody...cue the box of tissues! You have been warned. This novel has the right blend of action, drama, tradegy and hope. It's a beautiful blend of emotions and the connection to the characters is a powerful thing. The ending...wow! No spoilers so that really is all I'm saying. I need the next one...now now now, what more has Fate got in store for our MC?

I absolutely loved the Severed MC series. Each book has been a blast read. This one was actually my favorite. Cowboy and Lucy are my favorite couple. Cowboy has to let go of his demons and finally learned to open up to love. I love their characters and the entire story line. This MC keeps their town clean and their woman happy
