The perfect set up for this gem of hotness is the prequel The Invitation that introduces us to the characters in the book. The Invitation should be read first to introduce the back-story of Justine, known as JJ, and Ashton, two lawyers who met in LA while in law school.
JJ and Ash were best friends and always attracted to each other but never made a physical connection until their last night of school when they made an intense, hot connection. With promises of keeping in touch and remaining friends Ash moves on back to England and JJ remains in LA to pursue her legal career and hopefully a fast track to partner. Ash never contacts her back and both move on. JJ is dejected and not sure why he just disappeared from her life.
Fast-forward 3 yrs. to The Invitation 2, The Surrender, and the continuation of their story.
JJ with the biggest case of her career flies to New York for a lawsuit involving two computer programmers Adam and Kellan and a question of who wrote what code for a potentially valuable program. Ash, also now in New York is the opposing attorney, has changed into a cold distant man not resembling the man she once knew. The story takes a twist from there.
Things take an interesting turn. There is an invitation waiting for JJ in her hotel room.

The Invitation was burning up like fire in my hands. This is one well written hot book, It's a thigh tightening ride of heat that will have you squirm in your seat, I read it in one sitting, because I needed to find out what would happened next. There is a cliffhanger, but trust me, you will want to read the next part of the story.
